I Came From a Plane that Crashed on the Mountains
February 19, 2008
This is another first for me. We’re still more than three months from the festival, and I’m excited to announce our first official selection film: Stranded (I came from a plane that crashed on the mountains). Take a look at the trailer:
In 1972, a plane carrying the Uruguayan rugby team crashed in the Andes mountains. More than 30 years later, film director Gonzalo Arijon went with some of the survivors of this tragedy—previously dramatized in the film Alive—back to the site of the crash. Amazingly, all 16 survivors are still alive today, and all are interviewed in this powerful new documentary film.
We are even more excited to announce that Nando Parrado—who after 72 days of being stranded, crossed the Andes on foot to find help—will be attending Mountainfilm to present before the film screening.
This is only the beginning!
