So what I wanted to say about this post was... festivals will survive for one major reason:  community.  Sure, you can get pretty much any content you want, on-demand, anytime, anywhere these days.  YouTube, Joost, Hulu, Blip.tv even Netflix, for that matter.  But the thing that festivals have that watching media on your computer doesn't have is meeting filmmakers, making friends, talking about ideas, going to cool towns, watching films with a bunch of other like-minded souls.  It's a huge difference. 

Also, something not to ignore:  content is becoming free.  Or near free.  Live events are the future of the music biz, and will soon be followed by the film industry.</description>
